John Katovich, J.D.
Faculty John Katovich teaches Economics, Capital Markets & the Law course at Presidio and currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer at the Boston Stock Exchange, a subsidiary of NASDAQ. He has served as in-house and external counsel to companies in the Bay Area and East Coast for the last 20 years, and before that, practiced law in his hometown of Chicago. In the mid-80s, John became General Counsel for the Pacific Stock Exchange after several years as both a trader and regulator, and in the late 90s, left to become EVP and General Counsel for two software trading companies, OptiMark Technologies and ePIT Systems. Currently, he provides general, licensing and regulatory counsel to several technology, software and trading companies in the Bay Area. He graduated from the University of Illinois, and Southern Illinois Law School, and has been an adjunct professor teaching trading and market regulation at UC Berkeley, and an Instructor for INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. John is a licensed arbitrator for NASD, and attended the Harvard Business School Executive Negotiation Program.
