How does Presidio differ from other schools? 1. Sustainability integrated into entire curriculum. The Presidio MBA and Executive Program in Sustainable Management are unique in the field of higher education. While individual courses on business ethics and environmental management now exist, few business programs integrate—at all levels—social and environmental values with the application of practical business skills. 2. Students gain practical, real-world learning experience. Presidio MBA students gain practical sustainable business planning experience working with real companies and non-profits as part of our Project-Oriented Curriculum. 3. Venture Plan Capstone course. All courses in the integrated curriculum lead to the Capstone Venture Plan in the final semester, in which students develop their own business plan and prepare to launch their sustainable initiative, project or business. 4. Emphasis on human dimension of sustainability. Presidio’s innovative MBA and Executive Program curricula place a strong emphasis on the people aspect of sustainability with a particular focus on developing skills in the area of team collaboration, leadership, professional networking, mentoring and personal development. 5. Concept development vs. information transfer. The School believes that pragmatic inquiry and learning – the process of disciplined reflection and action based on experience – is far more effective and lasting than learning from experience alone or reflection in the abstract. It is this continuous, testing movement between experience and assumptions, which leads to genuine education and effective action. 6. Location, location, location. Presidio School of Management’s location in the San Francisco Bay Area is a distinct advantage for our students and graduates. Not only is San Francisco one of the world’s most beautiful and culturally diverse cities, it is also an epicenter for sustainable business and innovation. back to top What is "Sustainable Management"? Presidio School of Management defines Sustainable Management as the ability to direct the course of a company, community or country in ways that restore and enhance all forms of capital - human, natural and financial - to generate stakeholder value and contribute to the well-being of current and future generations. The Presidio MBA and executive programs prepare professionals, in a pragmatic way, to position their careers and their organizations—private, public or non-profit—to lead in the practice of Sustainable Management. back to top

How is the MBA program delivered? The Presidio MBA combines the effectiveness of face-to-face learning with the convenience and efficiency of distance learning. Each semester the program is composed of monthly four-day weekends of intensive interpersonal instruction in a classroom setting. Most classes are held at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco’s Marina District. Onsite learning is combined with off-site discussions online, conference calls, readings and team-oriented assignments, and projects with real companies throughout the semester. back to top
How do the class schedules typically work? Students meet for full days during residency weekends, which occur just once a month. Typically, hours are as follows: Thursdays from 10am to 6pm and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9am to 5pm. In addition, on Saturday evening students and faculty are invited to a short program and community dinner catered by the School. This evening has become a valuable networking and community building tradition. back to top
Can I visit a class? Yes. In fact, we encourage all prospective students to visit. Thursday through Saturday, you may choose one of two sessions (morning or afternoon) to visit. Class visits give prospective students the opportunity to see and experience first hand our thriving educational community. View our class schedule and instructions on requesting a visit. back to top
How does distance learning work? In between the monthly residencies, students interact regularly with faculty and class members through an online-based learning management system called Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment). Presidio believes that learning happens best when a student engages in the activity of creating something collaboratively within a community. Moodle, which is based on this principle, is highly customized for our MBA and Executive program needs, providing a social space for multiple teams and community development, collaborative learning, in-depth conversations, project management and problem-solving in a supportive atmosphere that is focused and well-organized. back to top
Is it possible to work and attend classes with the MBA program? You can, and most of our students do work in some capacity, though the choice is an individual one. For students in the MBA two-year program, we recommend working on a part-time basis. It is not recommended for full-time students to also work full time, although some students are able to manage both. For students enrolled in the four-year, part-time program, working full-time is typically manageable. back to top
