Graduating MBAs Present Sustainable Venture PlansOn December 15, students graduating this semester presented their final sustainable venture plans to the at-large community. Students presented on innovative concepts such as an executive recruiting firm for sustainability professionals, a nonprofit that connects tourism to microcredit enterprises for women in mountain communities, and an Epinions-type website that allows users to share tips and advice on green home building products. Student Jeff Cohen Named Nobel Peace Prize HonoreePresidio student Jeff Cohen is one of a team of EPA experts that received the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize for work on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The award was shared with former Vice President Al Gore. The Nobel Committee recognized the EPA recipients for their work in counteracting climate change. Presidio Students Respond to U.S. TreasuryStudents in the Economics, Capital Markets and Law class, taught by John Katovich, responded to a request from the U.S. Department of Treasury regarding input on the regulatory structures associated with financial institutions. The students addressed issues of accountability and transparency, which, for example, could reflect the lack of documentation for the business cost of externalities such as CO2.
